MCFA @ Empire Shopping Gallery

If you love cats, you'll love MCFA.

I'm not really a cat person, but they made me drool over them.

According to one of the participants, this cat can grow up to 50kg. As it it's not HUGE enough.

This cat actually winked at me.

This cat memang terbalik one.

Sorry kitty, didn't mean to stress you out.

Take 1.

Take 2.

There were plenty of cats there, but I only got these before I was asked to step out by the stupid participant there.

Peace :D

Python vs Husky

Just kidding.

Just some pet adoption lah.

Shawn as the supplier brought some pets in college. Scorpions, pythons, a husky, tarantulas, baby snakes, and the rest I don't remember. But the spotlight was all on the snakes, and the husky, of course. Who can resist a Husky anyway? Especially a mix breed with a wolf one, serious.

Looks like this handsome one gets the attention first. Lots of it some more.

This reptile is all over my boyfriend. Jeez.

He is one lucky bastard. Just LOOK at that face.

My favorite shot.

I'm watching you.

It'll be better if you stuck your tongue out at me.

Looks like I have been replaced.

Now that reminds me. My turn to sleep. Ciao for now.

LAMMEEYA @ Empire Shopping Gallery

I just woke up one morning and just felt like going Empire. I texted Nik and we went there around lunch time, we kinda walked around scouting for nice food to eat for quite awhile. But then I see this restaurant thought just wanna try it out, since the rest of the food places we came across, he said were either "not nice one" or "too many people".

Turns out, it wasn't really that nice after all. Average service, average looking menu, average food with average taste. Seriously.

Mee rebus.

Our drinks, ice lemon tea & iced coffee.
Should've tried their fresh juices instead.

Prawn meee. Normal only.

Nothing much to wow about, thought quite a lot of people in there must be something nice, mana tau.

Really, what happened to the good food nowadays ah?

Homemade Fettucine Carbonara

Just because we still got some left over ingredients from the Alfredo we made last week, extra fettucine and parmesan cheese, so we made carbonara this week. More like he made it.

So this is the list of the new ingredients for carbonara:

Bacon chips (we couldn't get bacon bits, so we had to cut it ourselves)
2 cups (400ml) of pure cream
1 pack of parmesan cheese (preferably, freshly grated ones)
4 eggs
  1. Fry the bacon with just a bit of olive oil, because bacon will produce its own oil. Medium heat.
  2. Meanwhile, mix the cream, cheese and 4 eggs. (depends there are how many of them to feed, and don't use too much of cheese.) Stir throughly.
  3. Cook the fettucine in boiling salted water at the side.
  4. Drain the pasta if cooked.
  5. Then pour the pasta into the pan with the bacons.
  6. Add the eggs, cream and cheese mixture.
  7. Mix well, make sure the pasta is coated with the creamy sauce.
  8. Season with salt and ground black pepper, and extra parmesan cheese handed around separately.
Remember to cut the bacon into bits.

Not really THAT good, still can improve ;D

Teh Tarik Place @ Empire Shopping Gallery

Cheap, fast, and simple. If that's what you like for your quick bite or afternoon tea like me. I won't say the food is excellent, just average. But the service wasn't really what I expected.

My all-time favorite. Teh tarik.

Fettucine All'Alfredo

"This simple recipe was invented by a Roman restaurateur called Alfredo, who became famous for serving it with a gold fork and spoon."

Too bad I used stainless steel ones. =.=

I have always loved pasta. And Alfredo seemed to be the easiest to make, but the ingredients are quite costly.

Oh yea one thing, my so-called Alfredo not the kind of ready-made alfredo gravy in a packaging can or glass container one ok, my alfredo gravy here is 100% homemade *proud*

So this is what the boyfriend and I prepared for the pasta:

Preparation: 1-2 minutes. Cooking: 10-12 minutes.

Parmesan cheese, shaved & plus extra to serve (preferably freshl
y grated ones, depending on how you like your dish)
1/2 cup of President butter (or just normal butter)
2 cups (400ml) of Pure cream (even better, get double cream)
Fettucine
Salt & ground black pepper for seasoning

When cooking,

  1. Cook the fettucine in salted water until boil for few minutes.
  2. Meanwhile, add the butter in a hot large pan, then pour the pure cream. Let it boil.
  3. Add 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese (remember: extra for serving)
  4. Season it with salt and ground black pepper. Taste.
  5. Turn off heat, add the cooked fettucine, mixed it. Make sure it is all coated with the gravy.
  6. SERVE when hot with extra parmesan cheese handed around separately.
As for us, we prefer it to be really creamy and cheesy. What an awesome job we did in the kitchen.

p/s: can't wait for the boyfriend to cook salmon for me ;D ;D ;D

Chocolate French Toast

This isn't the first time I cook already, but it was my first time trying 2 new dishes. Nik and I were tired of eating out too often so we decided some dishes to make and picked up the ingredients at supermarket.

The first dish was Chocolate French Toast. Caught the recipe on AFC, and thought it was a different kinda thing to try out. Haha.

Here are some tips from me, do not use the normal white wholemeal bread that you always eat like I did, try using french loaf instead, because normal white wholemeal bread are waaay too soft.
And, when making good french toast isn't really about the way you mix the mixture, it's all about the heat and the pan. Medium-Low is perfect.

4 eggs
1/2 cup of milk
2 tbsp of vanilla extract
1 cup of cocoa powder
1/2 cup of brown sugar (you can add more if you like your toast sweeter)

Mix that all up and soak the bread. Then at the pan, add olive oil & a pat of butter to cook your bread.

You might be wondering why not use those melted chocolate for it instead of cocoa powder, well, the chef on the show I was watching was right, because cocoa powder has a lot of true chocolate flavor in it, unlike those normal milk chocolates.

Try it yourself at home. You'll love it ;D
