Hari Kemerdekaan ke-53 (Merdeka '10)

I have never been to any official celebration for National Day, so this year was my first time.

You see, I'm not the kind of patriotic person. I often spend the public holiday sleeping at home. Just that I rather tag along going to the parade than being dragged to a jogging session. So that's how I ended up there, and honestly, I didn't regret it ;)

It was still 6.20am. After we proceeded to the stadium, we found a perfect spot to settle down, just to beat the crowd.

The whole thing began with "Keranamu Malaysia" and several others.

from this,

to jalur gemilang.

It's good to involve school children.

Pencil, buku latihan and chalk representing Education.
I missed out on the ones representing Sports though.

All the satellites and blinking "stars" representing Astronomy.

Exit of the VIPs,

I didn't put up all the photos I want here like I planned, thanks to the lousy connection, so I skipped a lot of photos.
But hopefully all these are good enough ;)

"Let the freedom ring,
let the white dove sing,
let the weak be strong,
let the right be wrong,
roll the stone away, let the guilty pay,
it's Independence Day."
